Improve city management processes and provide better services to citizens

Project Background

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the government of Saudi Arabia and Cisco in San Jose on 20-6-2016

The MOU includes 12 domains to be explored for digital transformation The MOU stipulates that Cisco shall work with stakeholders government sectors to identify initiatives that contribute to accelerating the digital transformation. The evaluation period was set at 120 days.

The 120-day identified 3x high priority domains and adoption of related initiatives was completed within 120 days for Education, healthcare and smart cities.

The report on these initiatives has been submitted and a detailed plan will be drawn up with Implementation of initiatives to be concluded within 1 year from 1 December 2016 to 30 November 2.

Project JustificationSaudi Arabia seeks to speed up its transformation into a digital country with the help of the Saudi Arabia Digitization Acceleration In which the Kingdom aspires to develop a roadmap, a new approach and an implementation mechanism to qualify five smart cities to support Saudi Arabia’s ranking as one of the top 20 countries in the field of digital transformation and accelerating the pace of economic development and the digital community to contribute to diversification of sources of income.

Secure connected infrastructure:
30 Access PointReliable infrastructure using wired and wireless network to support digital connectivity for users, connectivity and analysis of smart city solutions.

Smart lighting:
lighting poles 10-23Lighting poles can be used to install additional sensors to reduce energy costs, enable new usage cases, and generate new sources of income.

Smart Parking:
Up to 1500 car parking slotsImprove efficiency, reduce traffic through efficient car parking solutions. In the future, the possibility of generating new sources of income for the city and citizens will also be considered if regulatory legislation for paid parking is adopted.
