“I don’t want my data going through the cloud”
Cisco solutions use the cloud for management and monitoring only – all user traffic flows directly over the LAN, WAN, or Internet path as it would with a non-cloud managed solution. Our cloud management architectures are trusted by hundreds of thousands of customers in security-conscious industries worldwide.
“I don’t like the subscription-based licensing model.”
By using longer-term licenses, the recurring licensing cost can be converted into an up-front CAPEX cost that will last as long as you plan to keep the equipment in service. If a subscription model is not desirable, this may be a useful alternative. The subscription also includes benefits such as security updates, 24x7 enterprise support, and feature enhancements that provide ongoing value.
“What happens if we lose connection to the cloud?”
Because the cloud is only used for management and monitoring, the network will continue to operate normally in the event of a loss of cloud connectivity. Any Cisco devices will use their last known good configuration until such time as they reconnect to the cloud and receive any new configuration changes that have been made.
“Meraki doesn’t scale well enough for environment”
The Cisco Meraki cloud management platform can manage thousands of devices, whether those are consolidated in a campus environment or distributed across multiple locations. We have many examples of customers who have deployed Meraki solutions, including SD-WAN, at scale and would be happy to share some of those case studies with you. See the Cisco Meraki Customers page.
“Meraki SD-WAN isn’t feature-rich enough for my use case”
Cisco Meraki solutions are designed to be simple to deploy and manage, but that does not mean they are limited in capability. The majority of enterprise use cases can be addressed with Cisco Meraki solutions, and we have thousands of customers in the Commercial Select and GES spaces who can attest to that. See the Cisco Meraki Customers page.
