According to Jason Wagg, the General Manager of Axis Maintenance Services division, Axis prides itself on bringing the latest building services technology to its clients. But rapid growth had left it struggling to meet its own internal IT needs.
So in 2016 Axis appointed an external service provider and a Cisco partner, KNet Technology, to manage its systems and network
Wagg says the two organisations work in close partnership.
“At the end of the day, we are plumbers, and that is how we make money,” Wagg says. “KNet’s people are not employed by us, but they are really part of our team.”
Together KNet and Axis have transformed the company’s IT, including migrating most services into the cloud. Critical to that transformation has a total refresh of Axis’ cybersecurity posture.
Smart, simple answers for SMB IT Challenges
“We were getting bombarded on a daily basis with malicious attacks, so we had to do something about that,” Wagg says. “With a lot of our clients in government work, the requirement is that we need to be a working in a safe environment.”
According to KNet’s Director of Sales and Marketing Michael Dickerson, Axis is typical of a mid-sized business which has grown quickly.
“They are going through a transformation now, and they can’t really do anything else without securing their infrastructure,” Dickerson says.
