NTT DATA INTELLILINK Corporation, which handles technical consulting centered on IT infrastructure in the NTT DATA Group, played a central role in the proposal and construction of SD-WAN solutions. NTT DATA INTELLILINK conducted field verification of multiple solutions together with NTT DATA in response to requests to utilize SD-WAN. As a result, the Cisco SD-WAN solution (vEdge router) was introduced.
Mr. Ryosuke Yamanaka, Deputy Manager of Technology Services Section, talks about the background of the solution - “The Cisco SD-WAN solution had the capability to fully meet the requirements of the new NTT DATA network environment. In addition, settings were fine-tuned to meet the requirements of each site. The vEdge-100b, which was introduced as an edge router, was able to perform detailed settings from CL (I command line interface). If a site had needed to use redundancy (Border Gateway Protocol) for connection to the inside, or if there is a need to use BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) for internal connection, a more detailed setting was made as necessary. We could then proceed smoothly at the site.”

In addition, Cisco's global brand name and ability to provide support was a major factor in their decision to implement this solution.
NTT DATA began introducing Cisco vEdge routers in August 2018, starting with Japan and Malaysia. In just half a year after confirming the operation, installation was completed at 14 locations, including the main data centers for all supervising companies.
