Bárbara Fontela, Community Manager, EMEAR
Bárbara has recently joined the Gateway team as a Community Manager for the EMEAR hub. She is based in Spain, and is part of Amplify, the Accelerated Marketing Program for early in career employees. The program is led by Ginger Coffey and combines training, stretch projects and the Gateway job placement.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Communication (filmmaking, animation, graphic design, web, social media), a Master in Management, and previous experience in the Cisco EMEAR Communication team. Bárbara is passionate about creating visual content and video - and she’s an unofficial brand guidelines police officer.
Barbara advocates for gender equality at work, as a cofounder of the Women in Business club at her business school. The IE Women in Business (WiB) club is a networking group for all students at IE Business School. It seeks to create networking opportunities with women executives, inspire and empower women to become better leaders.
During her free time, she loves immersing herself into Netflix stories (Narcos, 13 Reasons Why, Dark, Stranger Things, Ozark, La Casa de Papel, The 100), eating out (she’s a walking guide of Madrid restaurants), traveling, and spending time with her family in La Coruña, her hometown.
Tejal Patel | Marketing Director
As we continue our digital transformation and build on the great progress we’ve made in FY18, I am thrilled to share with you some new additions and updates to the EMEAR regional digital team.
Regional Omni Channel Team
Omni channel is at the heart of all our marketing activity and is central to being audience-led. We made really good progress over the last few months by delivering 7 persona journeys across 11 languages in 22 countries and still growing.
As we now move into the optimisation and evolution of these journeys, it’s a great time to finally complete the team that will help support the EMEAR countries deliver against our goals.
Ertan Rassim joins us with over six years media experience. Ertan started off working in media sales before entering the agency world, working most recently with OMD where he was the day-to-day Account Manager for Cisco leading a team of six media planner/buyers. Throughout his time at OMD he gained a great deal of experience with paid media and had exposure to Cisco’s product portfolio and offering.
Ertan Rassim and Rachael Walsh
In his spare time, Ertan enjoys all things related to food (cooking, but mainly eating), sports such as boxing and football (forgive him for being a Spurs fan) and has become increasingly fond of cats since the arrival of his pet, Frankie Tortellini.
Ertan will focus on the Network Buyer and CIO personas.
Rachael Walsh joins us with a background in fast-paced Digital Agencies and innovative SAAS start-ups. Always a champion of the customer, Rachael has centred her career on working with data to drive customer experience forwards, whether that’s through digital marketing channels, building client satisfaction campaigns, business process refinement or product development. Rachael is thoroughly excited to take on her new challenge as a Digital Omni-Channel Manager and focus entirely on the Cisco brand. In her down time, Rachael is always planning her next adventure, obsessively stalking sausage dogs of insta and hiding the fact she has a guilt-ridden love for trashy television!
Rachael will manage the Collaboration buyer journey.
Shraddha has been in our team for a few months and as a reminder her focus personas are Data Center and SMB
Juskiran has also been on our team for a while and as her role has evolved, she will support the omni channel team around personalisation and event integration.
Lucas is our lead Omni Channel Manager and he will be the digital team point person on the CISO journey and for brand campaigns to ensure integration into all journeys.
Cisco.com is our digital home and where we bring all our experiences to life. It’s been great to see the progress we’ve made in areas like SEO and personalistion in the last year. We continue to partner with the global team and I’m pleased to announce that Abdul Khaled joined us a few weeks ago as the project manager for Cisco.com for the EMEAR region. Joining Sandip Amlani’s team, with close alignment with Valerie Marliac in the global publishing team, Abdul will be responsible for managing, refining and prioritising projects through Web Publishing. Prior to Cisco Abdul led a European wide digital transformation project for Subway Franchisees which included personalised sites in 8 regions covering 13 languages.
Abdul’s career started as a front end developer before transitioning first into project management and then into product management.
In his spare time he enjoys TV box set binging, 5-a-side football, and a new found passion for mountain climbing. Abdul recently became a father for the first time which he suspects will take up all of his free time!
Sandip continues to lead Cisco.com for EMEAR with Rowan Chernin's support on SEO.

Daniel Ayim has just joined the EMEAR Media team as Media Activation Manager. Daniel will be responsible for activation of media campaigns in UKI and T3 markets. Daniel - also known as Dan or Danny, has had the pleasure of working in media for the past 5 years working agency side as a digital media planning & buying manager across a diverse range of international brands. He has had experience managing accounts spanning across many sectors including fashion, finance, automotive and tech. Born and raised in Tottenham (all his life) he is the most devout scouser and Liverpool fan (sorry Ertan).
One of his main interests is travelling, in 2013 he had the pleasure of journeying from the Southern tip of Africa to the eastern African city of Nairobi (Kenya) crossing six national borders and camping in the Serengeti for four days.
Another passion of his is music, in his spare time he has run independent marketing campaigns for a plethora of UK Grime and Hip Acts and has also run campaigns for the likes of Capital Xtra and Spotify in the past.
Last but not least, it’s great to have Harley back from his assignment in the US, helping the global team on the global agency model. Harley will now be focused in the short term on digital marketing accountability; working with MIO insights to build the story around digital and its impact and how we align strategies to support the new DRT. He will also continue to work with the global team on how the agency model across publishing and omni channel activation will land into the EMEAR Region. Finally, he will partner with the content and MIO team to understand how we can build and apply ABM strategies to our journeys to drive greater engagement through digital for SMB, commercial and enterprise.
Please join me in welcoming our new digital team members and I hope some of the other updates provides you with clarity on other roles in the team.
Many thanks for reading
